25 @ 25: Slick Sound

The last picture of the 25 @ 25 series doesn’t actually feature me.  If you’ve followed this project of mine since last year, you will know that I don’t really like being the subject of my own pictures.  But that’s what a challenge is about — to push yourself to do something that isn’t easy.

I wanted to end this series with a shot that looks forward.  One of my resolutions for this year is to learn to play the guitar.  When I was 19, my mom and grandmom gave me a brand new guitar.  I started to teach myself and get callouses, but I didn’t keep up.   I love music and want to become proficient in at least one instrument.  So I’m hoping that by this time next year I will post a video of me with my guitar playing a song without looking down to check that my hands are in the right place.  For now, this picture will have to suffice.

I also want to take this time to thank all of you that have followed  me on this 25 @ 25 photo challenge journey.  Thank you for your patience during the photo droughts.  I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey as much as I have.  Rest assured that I will continue to take pictures and post a few here, just not for any larger project…at least not for now 😉

25 @ 25: My Serious Face

Today’s penultimate (nifty word, eh?) 25 @ 25 features my serious face.  It came about when I randomly made this face at my boyfriend and said, “This is my serious face!”  Because my mouth was scrunched up, it probably sounded more like, “Dis serus fish!”  He couldn’t stop laughing.  This story demonstrates the effectiveness of my serious face.  I think it also sums up my view on the 25 @ 25 project: sometimes serious, but mostly fun 🙂

25 @ 25: Neon Volunteering

This past weekend, I volunteered at the Massachusetts Poetry Festival in Salem, MA.  I had a great time meeting new people and attending different events.  Salem is a pretty neat town and I got to walk around for a little while.  I even found a cool bead store!  I’m going to write a fuller blog post on my time at the festival soon, but for now here is a picture of the shirt I wore all day Saturday (you definitely couldn’t miss any of the volunteers with an orange like this!)

25 @ 25: Veins, Network of Blue Highways

I wrote a poem a while back that has the line: “veins, network of blue highways.”  So I thought I’d try to take a picture based on that line.  It was harder to get my blue veins to show than I thought, but at least ya’ll know where the idea comes from:

25 @ 25: Fruit for Thought

For the longest time, I was self conscious about my teeth.  I never got braces and so two of my front teeth curve in.  To be honest, it’s not incredibly noticeable unless you really look.  Nevertheless, I didn’t like it.  But I recently noticed a nifty aspect of this.  Instead of the regular round pattern, the different formation of my teeth makes a pretty cool shape when I bite into an apple.  Take a look for yourself…it always makes me smile 🙂

25 @ 25: Spring in My Hand

During this project, I’ve focused quite a bit on my legs because of my obsession with boots.  Today’s photo focuses on another body part: my hands.  Here is a photo with a bit of Spring in my hands:

25 @ 25: A Better Close-Up

I realize yesterday’s close up was blurry.  The lighting where I shot isn’t the best.  So here’s a better (or at least sharper) close up…I even included the gloves again!
